A: All clients begin with an introductory session / clarity call. Standard sessions are conducted via telephone but there are other format options. After the introductory session, I’ll send you a follow up with options and recommendations, then allow you to freely decide what’s best for you.

Q: How is coaching different than therapy?

A: My training in clinical psychology leads me to believe that both approaches aim to help people in their efforts to grow, master their problems, and become more effective in their lives. Read more on the blog.

Q: How do I know that coaching is working?

A:  Ask yourself questions like: Are things changing? Am I uncomfortable, but secure? Do I feel differently? Do I take time to be self-aware and analyze the options before making a decision? Do I trust my coach? If your responses are affirmative, then coaching is most likely working.

Dr. Barbara Ford Shabazz

I’m a psychologist who coaches. Intentional Activities is a personal and executive coaching practice where I use over two decades of experience to help women and men disrupt negativity, refocus, and assert their true self (with balance!). I believe in creating a safe space where they don’t feel judged, and the hard stuff feels easier to work through. Learn more about how it works.
