Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does coaching work?

A: All clients begin with either a clarity call to understand the process and assess fit, or jump right in for a 90-minute session. Our sessions are conducted via telephone. After the introductory session, my clients have the option to schedule subsequent sessions as needed/recommended.

Q: How is coaching different than therapy?

A: My training in clinical psychology leads me to believe that both approaches aim to help people in their efforts to grow, master their problems, and become more effective in their lives. But coaching should not be a substitute for issues that warrant true counseling or psychotherapy. Coaching focuses on where you are presently and where you are headed, with a goal of helping you gain clarity about your vision, eliminate obstacles to your success, accelerate the pace of personal growth and achieve results that empower you to live your best life - professionally and personally. We can focus on any area of your life: Relationships, Finances, Spiritual life, Work and Business, or Physical Health and Environments. If it appears that there is an issue for which you may need therapy, I will suggest it. With the support of a therapist, some individuals choose to engage in coaching and counseling simultaneously.

If you believe your needs are more aligned with a therapeutic approach, I welcome you to compare additional options at: Therapy with Dr. B., PLLC.

Q: How much are the sessions?

A: Coaching session reservations begin at the text chat rate and increase based on need and audience.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: Because coaching isn’t covered by insurance companies (yet :), I cannot accept insurance as payment for services. However, some companies may allow it to be covered with FSA funds (always worth exploring with your employer). Installment plans are another available option to lessen the initial financial investment and help you to get started.

Q: Are any sessions face to face?

A: No, all sessions are conducted via telephone. Video-conferencing is a rare consideration, when necessary.

Q: What makes Intentional Activities different than other coaching practices?

A: With over 25+ years experience of facilitating change in the lives of clients and students, I can say with an exceptional level of competence, that I understand human behavior, and have the tools to equip you with what you need. In your work with Intentional Activities, you will find that I will help you to identify your current strengths/supports and use them as a point of departure in capitalizing on your action plan and goal attainment. I am excited to see where you'd like to start!

Q: How do I know that coaching is working?

A:  I tailor my approach to your individual needs and goals. The coaching agenda really comes from you. Most of the magic happens between our appointments. Sessions are based on a continual process of assessment, goal setting, action steps and further assessment. Our sessions will emphasize action, accountability, and follow-through.  Your growth and development will be based on individually-initiated change.
